APC suspend Gbaja’s DG for 1 year, recommends expulsion

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State has slammed one year suspension on the House of Representatives member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa.

In a report dated July 30, 2019 and signed by the APC chairman in Bebeji Local Government, Alhaji Sulaiman Sabo Gwarmai, Hon. Jibrin was accused of various anti party activities.

It stated that a seven-man committee was set up to investigate all issues raised against the Reps member.

The statement read “That having confirmed various anti party activities against Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa which was found to be contrary to some provisions of the party’s constitution, ranging from article 21, paragraph A (ii) (v) and (vii), the executive committee adopted the report and hereby suspended Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa immediately for 12 months.

“That the executive committee also adopted the committee’s recommendation urging the State Executive Committee to recommend to the national executive the immediate expulsion of Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa from the party for various offences which also found to be contrary to article 21, paragraph A (ii) (v) and (xi) of the party constitution.”
It should be recalled that in 2015, Hon. Jibrin played prominent role in the leadership tussle between then ‘Equity Group’ headed by Yakubu Dogara and the ‘Loyalist Group’ headed by Femi Gbajabiamila. That struggle eventually produced Dogara as Speaker.

In 2019, Jibrin also served as the Campaign Director General for the election of Gbajabiamila, the incumbent Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He was billed to be appointed as Minister but his was said to have been removed from the list of ministerial nominees at the last minute.

He lost the Kano State slot to Mohammed Sabo Nanono, a one time Managing Director of the defunct African International Bank (AIB). He was said to be the MD of AIB when President Muhammad Buhari’s cousin and the most influential members of the Villa Cabal, Mamman Daura was the Chairman while Abba Kyari, Buhari’s Chief of Staff was Company Secretary.
