Buhari’s visit to Imo postponed as Okorocha govt gives reason

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday postponed his one-day official visit to Imo State.

This was disclosed in a statement, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Imo State Governor, Sam Onwuemeodo.

Buhari was expected in Imo State to commission, among other projects, a statue of him, constructed by the Governor Rochas Okorocha government.

Onwuemeodo has now said that the visit was postponed as the president was yet to return from Saudi Arabia where he is performing this year’s holy pilgrimage.

The statement read: “We humbly wish to inform the general public and Imo people in particular that His Excellency, the president and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, has not returned from Saudi Arabia where he is at the moment with other Muslims from all parts of the world on pilgrimage.

“Against the backdrop of this development, the scheduled visit of the president to Imo State for the commissioning of some key projects of Governor Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday May 21, 2019 (today) has been postponed.”

  1. This nonsensical attitude of our government calling for the commissioning of senseless projects that does not have any economic value or any social impact in our society should stop. You mean Buhari will shuttle all the way to Imo state just to commission a statue? How does this benefit the common man in the society..?How does this promote technology ..? This insanity should and must stop.
All we hear is water, renovated school structures, fences and all sort of senseless things. May God help ùs
