As reports begin to trickle in from across polling units in Edo state, report from the camp of Godwin Obaseki suggests that the PDP candidate, Godwin Obaseki is heading for a landslide win.
Speaking to our correspondent in Benin a while ago, a former director general of Nigeria Governors Forum, Onaiwu, disclosed that reports from the party’s operatives across the state so far indicates that Governor Obaseki’s loyalists have been able to nullify the many rigging attempts by APC thugs, giving the masses the opportunity to exercise their franchise freely for the governor.
He said: “We’re confident that Godwin Obaseki will carry the day. Our people have blocked all the attempts by APC people to compromise the process.
“Edo people have resolved to have obaseki continue his good works and also end godfatherism.
“Let me commend the police and the DSS too. Majority of their men have been well behaved contrary to initial fears.”
Onaiwu called on the people of Edo state to remain vigilant as the election moves to the votes collation phase. He enjoined INEC not to bow to pressures from APC as the peoples’ searchlight is brightly on them.
Mr. Onaiwu further called on local and international election observers to continue to stand with Edo people so that their votes would really count.
