The crises of Peoples Democratic Party in Edo state has taken a new dimension as the State Working Committee announced the suspension of Chief Tony Aziegbemi, the chairman of the party in the state on Tuesday.
In a statement by the state’s publicity secretary of the party, Mr Chris Osa Nehikhare, the chairman was suspended for “gross misconduct” and other infractions.
The state working committee thereafter appointed Hon. Harrison Omagbon, the Deputy Chairman of the party to step in and lead the state chapter in acting capacity.
The party also appointed an investigative committee to investigate the various allegations levelled against the suspended chairman.
Members of the committee are; Barrister Arthur Esene, the legal adviser of PDP in the state, as Chairman; Mrs. Linsdale Tes Sorae (State Woman Leader) and Dr. Wilson Imongan (State Auditor) as members.
It may be recalled that the embattled chairman, Tony Aziebemi, and the state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, have been having frosty relationship over alleged decision of the Governor to replace the chairman with his loyalist.
