MKD foundation led by the founder Honourable Makinde Araoye and his amiable wife Princess Alima Araoye in continuation of their empowerment series yesterday 2nd of September, 2021 visited Ekiti East Local government and were accorded a rousing welcome by people who trooped out in their numbers to receive the team.
The programme targeted beneficiaries from Ekiti South Senatorial district comprising Emure,Gbonyin,Ekiti South West LG,Ise Orun Ekiti,Ikere Ekiti and Ekiti East Local government who all converged on Kota Ekiti the host town.
The event was declared open by the Ekiti South Senatorial district Chairman of the All Progressive Congress(APC) who welcomed everyone and commended Honourable Makinde Araoye for his selfless and philantrophic acts.
Honourable Makinde Araoye in his speech recognized the presence of Ekiti State APC Chairman Barr Paul Omotoso who was represented by the State APC secretary,State Women Leader and all party excos. He stated that the programme was to provide social security funds for the elderly and aged. The programme was birthed ten years ago at Ilawe Ekiti where people were empowered ward by ward before extending it to Ekiti South and would be a continuous process.
He further stated that the programme continued as a support for the government after the administration of His Excellency Governor Kayode Fayemi during his first tenure initiated the social security scheme ‘Owo Arugbo’ across Ekiti State. Honourable Araoye also commended the Governor of Ekiti State H.E Dr Kayode Fayemi for his exemplary leadership and effort in ensuring the dividends of democracy are felt across the state while affirming that the Governor is an example of good governance.
The elderly and aged were given social security stipends and food items distrubuted across the senatorial district. The beneficiaries were elated and commended Honourable Makinde Araoye for his kind gestures and living up to his nickname Oko Arugbo(husband of the aged) whilst also commending Governor Kayode Fayemi. Various youth groups graced the event.
