We, as stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti state cannot continue to sit and pretend like all is well with our party, when reverse is the case.
There is serious tension and crises in our party since the adoption of our chairman, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, as the preferred gubernatorial candidate of former Governor Ayo Fayose.
For several months since the gubernatorial declaration of our chairman, Bisi Kolawole, he has refused to call for meeting of State Working Committee and expanded State Executive Committee. His refusal has led some section of the SWC, including the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Lanre Omolase to be raising dust of rancour.
Today (Monday), the Chairman finally agreed to call for meeting but rather than go smoothly, it was filled with confusion because the Deputy Chairman, Hon Lanre Omolase, made move to chair the meeting even when Bisi Kolawole was present. He argued that Bisi Kolawole, the chairman, ought to have stepped down in order to focus on his gubernatorial ambition.
Another angle to the chaos in Ekiti state chapter of our party is an alleged move by former Governor Ayo Fayose to replace Bisi Kolawole with three of his loyalists; namely, Hon Oke Michal, alias Computer, who hails from his (Fayose) LGA, and only last month lost his bid for Zonal Treasurer at the southwest Congress; Hon Kola Omotunde, a resident of United States of America and former council chairman of Ekiti west; and Hon Yemi Ajanaku, the incumbent party chairman of Efon local government, where Kolawole hails from.
It is unfortunate that our chairman, Bisi Kolawole, a gentleman that we have known, and Ayo Fayose, who has benefitted greatly from the party, will turn themselves as a agents of destabilization of Ekiti PDP.
We therefore appeal to Prince Uche Secondus, our national chairman and other national leaders of our great party to arrest this situation before things finally fall apart.
