Immediate past governor of Ogun state Ibikunle Amosun was absent at the 2019 edition of famous festival Ojude Oba.
The celebration which has become the pride of Ogun state holds every year in Ijebu Ode with Awujale as the chief host.
This year’s edition of the popular celebration which attracts the indigenes of the state – and friends – from far and near held yesterday, August 13, 2019.
Ibikunle Amosun an incumbent Senator – and immediate past governor of Ogun state – was conspicuously absent.
Keen followers of happenings in Ogun are, however, not surprised by this development.
Societynow.ng learned that Amosun refused to attend the last edition of Ojude Oba held under his watch as governor of Ogun state.
Insiders attribute this to anger over the refusal of Awujale Sikiru Adetona to ‘’openly’’ back him.
Societynow.ng learned that Awujale’s open declaration that Amosun doesn’t like Ijebu people explains the kind of rapport that exists between the oba and former governor.
Awujale made the declaration during his recent 80th birthday celebration.
‘’The fact that Awujale did not support his choice as successor made Amosun to stay away from the 2018 edition, Awujale’s declaration that he worked against the interest of the Ijebu people when he was governor contributed to Amosun’s decision not to attend this year’s edition’’ societynow.ng learned.
‘’So it is basically not because of his raging feud with new governor Dapo Abiodun that made Amosun stay away but more because he is at odds with the chief host Awujale Adetona’’ a source pointed out.
Amosun is engaged with other major players in the socio, political and economic spheres of Ogun state over who determines.
As usual sponsored by indigenous telecommunication company, Globacom this year’s Ojude Oba festival reportedly lived up to billings as the place.
